Mahindra Quanto AMT facelift spied, gets various updates

Mahindra quanto AMT spied testing

Mahindra was not able to garner good volumes in the compact SUV segment at a time when Ford witnessed a massive boost in sales with the EcoSport. The Quanto was not a favoured model mainly owing to the fact that it is nothing but a cut-short Xylo that was made in a hurry. However, the TUV300 helped the Nashik based manufacturer to get back on track with the model getting lots of customers to company showrooms.

The automaker is currently working on another car called the KUV100 which will also cater to budget car buyers in our country. But Mahindra is also working on updating the Quanto. The Quanto facelift was just spied revealing the various changes that it will feature as compared to the outgoing model.

Spotted in the company’s hometown, the Mahindra Quanto will get an AMT unit as well. Looking at the pictures, the Quanto AMT will get a redesigned front profile much to the satisfaction of critics. There is a new and bigger front grille with vertical slats in addition to a bonnet scoop and Scorpio like headlights. Daytime running lights and new alloy wheels will also help the compact SUV look better. No changes are expected in terms of the rear profile. However, the taillights could be revamped.

The interiors were caught on camera as well showcasing a new light beige colour scheme. The steering wheel has been updated to feature controls for a new touchscreen infotainment system that is expected to get Bluetooth, AUX and USB connectivity. It might even feature a reverse parking camera with sensors, but this could be given a miss. The front two seats also get armrests.

Mechanically, the TUV300’s 1.5-litre, three-cylinder mHawk80 diesel engine could power the Mahindra Quanto AMT. An anti-roll bar and stiffer suspension setup is expected as well. As the TUV300 is finding a good number of buyers for the automatic variants, the same is expected for the Quanto AMT as well if Mahindra is able to pull off a good looking profile for the car. Expected to launch by the middle of next year, the Quanto AMT will be a cheaper proposition to the TUV300.
