Mahindra KUV100 launching on January 15, bookings commence
Mahindra is all set to launch its upcoming compact SUV, KUV100 on January 15, 2016. With less than a month left for the launch, Mahindra dealers have started accepting bookings for the new mini SUV. The company recently announced the official name of the SUV which was earlier known as S101. Actor Varun Dhawan has been chosen as the brand ambassador for the upcoming Mahindra SUV for which production has already started at the company’s manufacturing facility.
Under the hood, the ‘Kool Utility Vehicle’ will house a newly developed petrol engine from a new range of engines dubbed mFalcom. Made of aluminium, the mFalcon G80 is claimed to be the lightest engine in its league. Moreover, the engine is compliant to BS IV emissions and is capable of producing 82 bhp of power and 114 Nm of twisting force.
Diesel variants of the Mahindra KUV100 will get an all-new diesel engine dubbed mFlacon D75 (belonging to the same engine family). The 1.2 litre turbocharged CRDi engine can pump out 77 Bhp of power along with 190 Nm of torque. Both the engines will come mated to a manual gearbox, an automated manual transmission will not be rolled out for now, but there is a possibility that it can be introduced at a later stage. Expected to be priced from Rs. 4.5 lakh for the base version, KUV100 does not have a direct competition in its segment. However considering the price, the micro SUV will directly rival Hyundai’s Grand i10.
