Mahindra KUV100 – Everything you wanted to know
Mahindra and Mahindra is undeniably one of the biggest SUV manufacturer in India. The Indian based auto-major presents something interesting with every new model to the customers. Few may not have created a spark, but some additions have been widely welcomed. Mahindra is all set to unveil the brand new KUV100 which is a sub-4 metre compact SUV on January 15th. The compact SUV has not yet been spied but Mahindra discussed in details about the car while disclosing its official name. Going by the alpha-numeric strategy which at the same time sounded youthful and offered fresh features without digging holes in the pockets, the vehicle was named KUV100.
KUV means “Kool Utility Vehicle” and 100 denotes the position and series which ranks under Mahindra XUV500 and TUV300. Mahindra KUV100 shares a lot of design elements with the Scorpio and XUV500. The KUV100 will have four variants- K2, K4, K6 and K8; K2, K4 and K6 will have “+” option that will offer extra comfort and safety features while the K8 will offer high-end features and safety. KUV100 will offer airbags for driver and passenger as well as an engine mobilizer; it will also be equipped with ABS and EBD safety features across all variants. Mahindra KUV100 has a curvy exterior design language and looks more like the Ford EcoSport in overall proportions.
Talking about the interiors, it has a seating capacity for 6 passengers, comes with a touch-screen infotainment system, gear lever is placed on the dashboard and rectangular AC vents are housed inside. Powering the Mahindra KUV100 will be the brand-new mFalcon G80 for petrol and mFalcon D75 for diesel. The mFalcon G80 has been developed in house by Mahindra in India and is made up of aluminium making it the lightest engine in its segment. The 1.2-litre petrol engine produces 82bhp of power and peak torque of 114Nm. The 1.2 litre diesel unit on the other hand generates 77 bhp of power and 190 Nm of twist.
KUV100 will be offered in the price range of Rs. 4.5 – Rs. 6.0 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and will be seen competing with Hyundai Grand i10, Maruti Suzuki WagonR and the i20 Active.
