Mahindra`s sub-compact SUV KUV100 gathers 21,000 bookings since launch
Mahindra and Mahindra ventured into the sub-compact SUV segment last month with the launch of the KUV100. The company has received an overwhelming response by gathering 21,000 bookings since then. The youthful car has also received 1.75 lakh enquiries within a month of its launch. Available in two engine options and seven variants, the base model petrol variant is priced at Rs. 4.42 lakh while the top-spec model is priced at Rs. 5.91 lakh. The base diesel is being offered at Rs. 5.52 lakh while the top-spec variant is tagged at Rs. 6.76 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Pune).
Under the hood, Mahindra KUV100 is equipped with the new 1.2 litre mFalcon petrol and diesel units developed in collaboration with Ssangyong. The petrol variant has an ARAI claimed mileage of 18.23 kmpl whereas the diesel variant delivers 25.32 kmpl which is the best in the segment. The young SUV brings back the flat bench front seat trend and is spacious with a boot capacity of 243 litres. The car is equipped with a host of features like steering mounted audio controls, instrument cluster with multi-information display, Bluetooth infotainment system which has a display screen and much more. Rugged and sporty on the outside, neat and classy on the inside makes the KUV100 a perfect buy for young first time car buyers.
The mini SUV currently commands a waiting period of over two months. In order to cut down the waiting period, Mahindra will be increasing the production capacity at the Chakan Facility from 9,000 units to 12,000 units in less than six months. Coming to its safety features, all variants of KUV100 get ABS and EBD as standard, but the dual front airbags for the driver and front passenger are optional on all variants. The KUV100 is the first small car from Mahindra and is pitted against the likes of popular hatchbacks like the Maruti Swift and Grand i10.
