Mahindra Introduces XUV Aero Coupe-SUV Concept at 2016 Auto Expo
The enchanting Mahindra XUV Aero Coupe-SUV concept makes its debut at the 2016 Auto Expo and can be viewed as a flagship model that draws its inspiration from the XUV 500. The very look of front fascia reminds one of XUV500, but it manages to steal the show with its wide grille and headlights highlighted with LEDs and L-shaped DRLs. The concept version had been teased way before the expo in a sketch released by Mahindra and Mahindra which garnered huge expectation and excitement from its fans. The design has been created by the company’s Indian designers based in Mumbai along with the help of Italian design firm Pininfarina which Mahindra had bought last year.
The bumper of the Mahindra Aero Coupe gets a wide air-dam and neatly arranged LED lights. The front fascia has beefy shoulder lines, dilated wheel arches that have cuts and creases extending up to the back in an upward fashion. The slanting roof-line with a sturdy rear end and pointed C-pillar further enhances the aesthetics of the Coupe. To give it a luxurious look, the interiors are adorned with beige upholstery and bucket seats. An interesting feature on the XUV Aero concept are the suicide doors which makes the cabin easily accessible. Other features adorning the Coupe is Mahindra’s new infotainment system and connectivity equipment.
The XUV Aero concept is expected to be powered by a 4-cylinder 2.2 L turbocharged mHawk CRDe diesel motor extracting maximum power of 140 hp at 3750 rotations and peak torque of 330 Nm at 2800 rpm. The engine is expected to be coupled with a 6-speed auto ’box driving power to the front wheels or 4WD drive system (optional) or a 6-speed manual gearbox. Do note that the company has not yet revealed anything about its technical specifications. The sporty looking Mahindra XUV Aero Coupe-SUV is expected to lock horns with the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Class that continues to rule the elite luxury coupe-SUV segment. The Aero concept Coupe will be positioned above the XUV500 and is expected to change the rules in the competitively priced coupe-SUV segment.
