Mahindra E2o electric car to launch in UK this month
Mahindra and Mahindra a pioneer of electric vehicle technologies has decided to lend support to UK for the cause of air quality by launching a zero-emission electric car. Mahindra e20 will be introduced to other international markets as well and will be targeting buyers who are young professionals with children or those families who want a second car. The international model set to hit the UK car market will probably be offered around £13,000-16,000 which equates to Rs. 12- 15 lakh in Indian currency, this makes it cheaper than Nissan Leaf and Renault Zoe which are priced at £25,790 and £18,445 respectively but expensive than Renault Twizy which has starts at £6895.
The Mahindra E2o electric car claims to deliver a range of 120 kms with a full battery charge. The lucrative UK car market sells around 10,000 units of battery operated vehicles every year and has a growth rate of 50-60 percent as compared to the past few years. The e2o model is already on sale in the Indian car market, but the UK version is equipped with better interiors and safety equipments. The e2o will be seen featuring tyre pressure monitoring device, anti-lock braking system, electric stability programme and airbags to comply with the European homologation laws.
The environment friendly Mahindra e2o will be fabricated at the company’s Bangalore facility and the customers can place orders online, with deliveries in the United Kingdom expected to commence in May. Those willing to purchase a Mahindra e2o can look out for specifications and features, can book a test drive online and get the car delivered at their doorstep. A mobile team will offer door to door service and will take care of after sales maintenance. Mahindra has designed and developed the sales and service model of e2o keeping in mind its UK customers.
