Latin NCAP: New Toyota Fortuner gets five-star safety rating

New Toyota Fortuner crash test

Latin NCAP, the premium crash testing agency that puts several vehicles to test their crash worthiness in a controlled environment has recently tested the New Toyota Fortuner. The upcoming SUV which was crash tested is based on Toyota’s pickup truck the Hilux SW4.

The Hilux SW4 has already received a 5-star rating from the Latin NCAP and recently, the Toyota Fortuner was also added to this list of 5-star rated safety vehicles in both adult and child occupant protection. The Latin NCAP found almost similar results for the Fortuner as were observed for the heavy-duty pickup truck. The Hilux SW4 came equipped with a bunch of airbags that included dual front and driver knee airbags, and the Fortuner on which the test was conducted came with similar equipment levels.

The new Toyota Fortuner would be getting its juice from a new GD series of diesel engines, which will be mated to manual as well as automatic transmissions. The SUV would be launched in the Indian market in the coming year, post the launch of the 2016 Innova Crysta in the country in the coming months.
