Land Rover Discovery Sport to launch in India on 2nd September 2015
Land Rover is gearing up to launch its Freelander successor, the Discovery Sport in the country on 2nd September.
The land Rover Discovery Sport gets its juice from a 2.2 litre oil burner that churns out 147bhp. A more powerful 187bhp version will also be available for customers wanting more power. Both the engines will be mated to a nine speed automatic gearbox.
Prices of the 2015 Discovery Sport will be on par with the top-spec variants of the BMW X3 and the Audi Q5. The Stylish SUV will be locally assembled at the company`s plant in Pune.
The Land Rover Discovery Sport is expected to come loaded with features like the new InControl touchscreen system, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, leather seating with electrically adjustable front row seats and Bi-xenon headlights. The Discovery Sport will also feature Land Rover`s famous Terrain Response 4-wheel drive system. It will rival the likes of the BMW X3, Volvo XC60 and the Audi Q5. While the Discovery Sport will come with a 5+2 seating configuration, its rivals are available only in a 5-seat layout which gives the Land Rover an edge over its competition.
Bookings for the Land Rover Discovery Sport have started and the SUV can be pre-booked for an amount of Rs. 5 lakhs. The base S variant of the sports utility vehicle is expected to be priced around Rs. 50 lakh while the top-spec HSE variant will cost Rs. 65 lakh. (All prices approximated are ex-showroom, New Delhi).
