Jeep Renegade spotted testing in India
Jeep has been creating a lot of buzz and has been gathering up quite a lot of customer attention since its launch at the Auto Expo 2016 recently. The company is an auxiliary brand owned by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) and had unveiled three new vehicles at the motor show, which included the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, and the Grand Cherokee. These three models would be launched in the country later this year. Amidst the entire buzz, recently an all-new offering known as the Jeep Renegade had been spied on the streets of Delhi.
This compact SUV has a box shaped design and is similar to the international model of the Renegade that is already a success in the European markets. The spy shots of the Jeep Renegade reveal that the SUV is almost identical to the international variant with the same type of positioning and design of the fog lamps, headlamps, and the front bumper etc. The Renegade is a compact SUV and would be competing against the likes of the Hyundai Creta and the Renault Duster in the Indian market. Powering the Renegade would be a 2.0 litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that is tuned to deliver either 138bhp or 168bhp of power depending upon the variant. It will be equipped either with a 9-speed automatic gearbox or a 6-speed manual transmission, and would be available in 4×2 and 4×4 variants in the country.
Although Jeep has not made any announcements of the Renegade coming to India, the spy shots tell a different story and it’s quite possible that the Renegade will be making its way to the Indian shores soon. The compact crossover SUV from the American manufacturer is expected to be priced between Rs. 18 – 20 lakhs.
