Jazzed up 2014 Maruti Suzuki Swift to launch in November
Come November and the 2014 Suzuki Swift will take to the roads with a little bit of jazzing up here and there. Wisely, Maruti decided not to tinker too much with the overall design, frame, engine, suspension and seats. The Swift, ever since its inception and in many of its garbs, was and is popular and rightly so.
This time around the changes are to the front bumper. The Swift will feature day time running lights and the grille has received a face lift as has the headlamp. At the back the tail lamp is redesigned and could feature LEDs inside, which is the current trend. Given the spate of changes car makers are making to these sections, it seems to be a catching trend and maybe customers are impressed with LEDs and headlights.
Coming to the interiors, the 2014 Swift has gained smarter trims. More noticeable is the audio system featuring an LCD screen and a navigation option in top of the line models. Slight though the exterior and interior changes are, they certainly are appealing and well thought out. As for the engine, the Swift retains the K12 1.2 litre petrol outputting 85 PS in petrol variants and the DDiS 1.3 litre 4 cylinder turbo outputting 75 PS for diesel versions. It is no Mini Cooper for sure.
What is more interesting is that both variants will have the option of an automatic transmission with Maruti offering AMT gear boxes, which is certainly going to be a huge plus in its favour and if prices are right, the swift should continue to maintain or even increase its market position.
