Isuzu MU-7 automatic launched at Rs. 23.90 lakhs
Isuzu Motors India has launched the automatic version of the not so popular MU-7 SUV in India, priced at Rs. 23.90 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). Prior to the automatic, the Isuzu MU-7 was only offered with a five-speed manual transmission. The automatic transmission makes the vehicle better suited to rival the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Ford Endeavour and the SsangYong Rexton.
A 3.0-litre, four-cylinder VGS turbocharged diesel engine drives the massive SUV with a power output of 161 BHP and 36.7kgm of torque. Power is sent only to the front wheels as the MU-7 is not offered with four-wheel drive, even as an option.
The only thing that works in the SUV’s favour is the acres of space available inside the cabin, which literally makes you feel like a king. The new variant gets a new steering wheel with mounted audio controls and a dual-tone dashboard which features a lot of wood. Isuzu has also thrown in a Kenwood 6015 BT music system with integrated satellite navigation and reverse parking sensors with camera. Other features include ABS with EBD, remote locking, electric ORVMs, two airbags, projector headlamps and more.
Isuzu India will be hoping to get more sales of the MU-7 through the automatic variant because the manual was just able to retail 260 units last year. The automatic demands a premium of Rs. 2.5 lakhs over its manual counterpart which costs Rs. 21.40 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
