Interiors of 2015 Skoda Fabia revealed
Not so long ago there was news about Skoda having finally upgraded their manufacturing facilities for the Skoda Fabia 2015 model that is going to debut across Europe at the ensuing Paris Motor Show in September.
Skoda announced the release showcasing the new improved Fabia with a shortened body but a longer wheelbase of 1674 mm. The storage space is increased to 330 litres with the loading bay widened to 960 mm and height also reduced to allow easy access to the boot. These design changes mean more comfort for passengers, agility and better cornering. In all there are 17 improvements of which 9 are new.
The engineers at Skoda have thoughtfully provided an ice scraper for the fuel filler cap given the cold conditions of the countries in which it will be launched. Even the cabin storage space has been increased and there are additional pouches on the insides of the doors. The new Fabia also focuses on providing more space for bottles. The rear doors can now hold a half litre bottle while the glove compartment can accommodate a 1 litre bottle and two additional bottles in the console, 1 bottle in each of the front doors, bringing the total bottle holding capacity to 7.
According to Dr Frank Welsch, Board Member of Technical Development at Skoda the new design is practical, elegant and aids mobility on congested urban roads. At the time of release only exterior images were previewed and now Skoda has let us have a glimpse of the interiors that follows a typically German design with the center of attention occupied by a spanking new infotainment system to which you can connect your mobile devices through a USB port that interfaces with MirrorLink technology when connected to phones or tablets. All a user needs to do is plug in the smartphone via the USB port and activate MirrorLink on the Radio for the apps to be shown on the unit’s display.
The exteriors have gained sophistication in line with current trends with design philosophy carried forward to the fog lamps, that now have a cornering function too. The 2015 Fabia will debut at the upcoming Paris Motor Show in September.
