Indian Motorcycle gears-up to tap 15% market share in 1200cc-plus segment
The past prediction that the Indian two-wheeler industry will probably double every four years till the year 2020 seems to be true. With the growing demand for super-luxury bikes in India, Polaris India is readying itself to register a 50% sales growth in the financial year 2016-17. Polaris India is renowned for selling luxury cruiser motorcycles under the brand name of Indian motorcycle. As per a recent report on Economic Times, Indian motorcycle aims to increase its sales network apart from aiming for a 15% market share in the 1200cc-plus segment. Talking about the 1200-cc motorcycle category, the company currently sells 10% of the super premium bikes per annum which equates to roughly 100 bikes.
Polaris India currently retails the Chief, Indian Roadmaster, Chieftain, Scout, Chief Vintage and Chief Dark Horse in the domestic market since May 2011 in the price range of Rs. 13.8 lakh to Rs. 38 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The current market share enjoyed by the company is 10%; in order to attain the said target Indian motorcycle will be doubling the showrooms from its six dealerships in Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Gurgaon- which happens to be its first showroom. The new showrooms will reportedly come up this year in Goa, Pune, Indore, Kochi, Chandigarh and Kolkata.
At the Delhi Auto Expo 2016, Indian motorcycles introduced a 110-cc ATV and RacerTurbo at an offering price of Rs 3.7 lakh and Rs. 29 lakh respectively. It also unveiled the Indian Chief Classic’s variant at the 2016 expo. But the motorcycle which grabbed eyeballs at the event was the Indian Roadmaster Blue Diamond which has been introduced with a price tag of Rs. 38 lakh. This luxury cruiser bike gets its juice from a thunder stroke 111engine banging out 1,811-cc and is equipped with some cool features like fuel gauge with odometer, LED lights, tachometer, dual tripmeters, fairing secured instrument cluster highlighting the electronic speedometer and the list goes on. Determined to deliver the best, Polaris is already the numero uno in the domestic market in off-road and all-terrain vehicles for utility and recreational purpose. Be it electric-powered vehicle, snowmobiles or motorcycles, Polaris offers it all. Not forgetting to mention here its special offerings for the Indian Army, ITBP, BSF and several state police forces since the last forty years.
