Hyundai Zooming Ahead in Indian Car Markets
Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, the Senior Vice President & Division Head Marketing & Sales Division of Hyundai Motor India, announced at the launch of the Elite i20 that the company’s market share stands at 23 percent when sales figures for the period April to July are taken into account. This is a healthy increase of 2.3 percent when compared to the 20.7 percent market share for the same corresponding period of last year. He hoped that the Elite i20 would help the company consolidate and improve its gains.
The Elite i20 is up against Suzuki Swift and Volkswagen Polo but still, with its improved styling and engine as well as a price advantage, it should do well. Hyundai has addressed a few of the shortcomings with the improved design, which should go down well with its customers. Available in petrol and diesel variants, the Elite i20 boasts of improved performance through changes in engine and transmission as well as providing comfort for passengers. It has better fuel consumption figures and the diesel version with its U2 engine promises better performance and lower emissions. Hyundai have a winner on their hands and they know it.
The petrol version of the Elite i20 is priced at Rs. 4.90 Lakhs for the base variant, whereas the base model of the diesel variant starts at Rs. 6.10 Lakhs. The Elite i20 directly competes with the likes of Maruti Swift and Volkswagen Polo.
