Hyundai to launch i20 cross next month, called i20 Active
Hyundai plans to launch the i20 cross variant next month. Till now we had reported most of the features, except that the car will be called the i20 Active. Internationally Hyundai sells the i20 cross as the base variant, with Active being the base, entry level variant, while the elite is the top-end variant. The car was recently spotted in its full glory, while it was being shot for a television commercial.
The Active is basically a rugged version of the elite. It aims to please an audience that leads an “ Active lifestyle” and spends a lot of time exploring places. The car features projector headlamps, Daytime running LED’s, black plastic cladding all over, and even has a higher ground clearance. It has round reflectors and a reverse parking light. Added to the goodies is a rear spoiler, roof rails and most likely a fresh new design for the alloy wheels.
The engines powering the Hyundai i20 Active would be the same 1.2 liter petrol/1.4 liter diesel units doing duty in the Elite i20. Added to the safety measures, are side airbags, which were discontinued, in the previous version. The company plans to launch the car in March this year.
