Korean carmaker Hyundai has launched the Grand i10X in Indonesia. The Hyundai Grand i10X is a crossover model based on the Grand i10 hatchback. A few months back Hyundai launched the i20 Active which is a rugged version of the Elite i20. The craze for crossovers has been on the increase in the Indian car market and almost every auto manufacturer is launching a crossover based on the standard hatchback. Take the case of the Volkswagen Cross Polo, Etios Cross or for that matter, the Fiat Avventura. To convert a car into a crossover, all that needs be done is all add some body cladding, raise the ground clearance by a few millimetres, roof rails and minor tweaks to the exterior design to give the vehicle an aggressive look. Lo and Behold you`ve got a new car! So it was easy for Hyundai to introduce the crossover version of the Grand i10X.
The Grand i10X gets cosmetic updates in the form of LED DRLs, skid plates, new 14-inch alloy wheels and a sporty looking chrome tip for the exhaust. Coming to its interiors no changes have been made. The Indonesian spec hatchback gets features like Bluetooth connectivity, cooled glove-box, steering mounted controls etc. Hyundai has not meddled with the mechanicals of the car. The Grand i10X is powered by a 1.2 litre kappa gasoline motor that forks out 87PS of power and 120 Nm of twisting force. This is the first crossover offering by Hyundai for the Indonesian market. The Hyundai Grand i10X has been launched at a starting price of Rs 7.5 lakh in Indonesia. There is however no confirmation from the company if this model will be launched in the Indian market or not.
