Hyundai Creta Facelift Teased

Hyundai Brazil has released a teaser featuring pre-production prototype of updated Creta SUV draped in heavy black canvas. The Creta facelift is expected to hit the Brazilian market sometimes by the end of 2016, the customers in India will probably have to wait till late 2017 or early 2018. There is a possibility that the compact SUV might make an Indian debut at 2018 Auto Expo as a facelift. Going by the auto major’s social media post; the updated Hyundai Creta’s first model will be presented to Brazil’s Rio Olympic sailing champions- Kahena Kunze and Martine Grael.

The Brazilian-spec Creta appears tad bit different from the Indian counterpart. The Hyundai Creta was an instant hit among the Indian customers and has received more than 1 lakh bookings, it is faring equally well in the export market too. The Hyundai Creta will be fabricated at the automaker’s Piracicaba plant in Sao Paulo. The carmaker will introduce Hyundai Creta locally at the upcoming 2016 Sao Paulo Auto Show in November.

Coming back to the teased images, the SUV features a re-designed bumper, modified tail lamps, broader hexagonal grille having chrome accents and horizontal fog lamps. The tail lamps are interconnected by a chrome garnish. The heart of the Brazilian-spec Creta features a CVVT flex-fuel 1.6-L engine delivering 128 bhp and 161.81 Nm and will be mated to a 6-speed manual and 6-speed auto transmission. 2018 Hyundai Creta expected India Launch

The Hyundai Creta facelift is yet to make its first appearance in November at the 2016 Sao Paulo Auto Show. As the compact SUV is expected to hit the Brazilian market in 2017, the Indian launch will happen sometime in 2018.

2018 Hyundai Creta Expected Price in India

The compact SUV is expected to come up with updated interiors and exteriors. Expect the base variant to be priced at Rs 10 lakh  while the top-end spec will be tagged at Rs. 15 lakh (ex-showroom).

The new Creta upon its launch in India will be seen locking horns with Maruti Vitara Brezza, Renault Duster and the yet=to-be-launched Honda HR-V and Nissan Kicks.

The Creta is one of the most feature packed car in its segment. It might carry forth several features such as ESC, height adjustable driver seat, VSM, rear parking camera and sensors, AVN system with touchscreen, automatic climate control and more. We, however expect the carmaker to introduce few more safety and comfort features.

2018 Hyundai Creta Exterior

As we mentioned before, the Brazilian-spec looks different than the India-spec model in terms of horizontal fog lamps, slightly modified front bumper, rear bumper, tail lamps, reflectors and new ‘Cascading grille’. The Brazilian model also gets full-width chrome strip in between tail lamps. The dimensions and overall design however remains untouched.

 

2018 Hyundai Creta Technical Aspects

No changes are expected in terms of engine line-up in the India-spec model. The tried and tested Dual VTVT 1.6-L petrol producing 121 bhp and 151 Nm, the CRDi 1.4-L diesel churning 89 bhp and 220 Nm and the CRDi 1.6-L diesel delivering 126 bhp and 259 Nm will power the Indian variant. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic.

 

2018 Hyundai Creta Mileage

The mileage figures expected from the 1.4-L CRDi diesel is 21.38 kmpl, the 1.6-L U2 CRDi VGT diesel manual and automatic will yield 19.67 kmpl and 17.01 kmpl respectively; while the 1.6-L Dual VTVT petrol will deliver 15.29 kmpl.
