Honda unveils the new CB150R sports bike at Indonesia Motorcycle Show
The Honda cars and motorcycles are favoured all over the world for their sheer quality and style. Honda bikes and scooters are equally loved in the Indian two wheeler market, as Indian riders prefer the sophisticated style and great rides that these Japanese two wheelers offer. Honda on its part ensures that its fan base remains intact by introducing great new models.
Following the company strategy of expanding its product range, Honda has unveiled the new CB 150R, the naked variant of the CBR 150R sports bike, at the 2014 Indonesia Motorcycle Show.
The new Honda CB150R sports bike is driven by the same 149 cc liquid cooled single cylinder motor that is capable enough to churn out a max power output of 17.8 PS at 10,500 rpm and peak torque of 12.5 Nm at 8,500 rpm. This efficient engine joins hand with a 6 speed transmission gearbox to offer smooth and powerful ride experience. The Honda CB150R is also a fully faired motorcycle with only the mechanical bits being shares with the other Honda bikes. This sports bike’s other mechanical specifications such as the front and rear disc brakes and front telescopic fork suspension and rear monoshock suspension are also carried over from the CBR 150R model.
Where visual appeal is concerned, the new Honda CB150R is surely a stunner. The bike gets the true Honda DNA with trendy style and great design elements to make all heads turn towards it no matter where it goes. Apart from a trendy overall shape and design, this sports bike is further endowed with many additional style elements to make it look superbly alluring. The new CB150R is endowed with eye catching body graphics or decals that comprise of one red based body colour with white and grey sporty decals, and another black body colour version that features subtle white combinations. The bike also gets a small motor cowl and attractive red accented alloy wheels to heighten its bold sporty visual appeal. A lot of the other components such as the engine and silencer get a glossy black finish in both the body colour variants.
The sporty new Honda CB150R sports bike surely looks great and should also offer fantastic ride and handling characteristics. However, where the Indian market is concerned it is still not clear whether or not this bike will get launched in India. Nevertheless, if Honda does decide to launch this new variant in India, then the CB150R will be competing with the likes of the upcoming Bajaj Pulsar 150NS, Yamaha FZ / FZ-S version 2.0, and the more such models.
Honda has not revealed anything about the price of the new CB 150R variant that is going to launch in the Indonesian market very soon. On the other hand, if it launches the bike in India, then the Japanese auto maker could tag the bike at about Rs. 1 lakh. If Honda actually launches the bike in India, then it will be a valuable addition to the portfolio.
