Honda recalls City, Jazz and Civic in India for faulty airbag issue
Honda, one of the most popular and prevalent car brands in the Indian automotive industry has yet again recalled another bunch of Honda vehicles. This time the recall includes Honda City, the Jazz and the Civic in order to fix an issue with the faulty driver side airbag installed in the cars. Previously, the Japanese car manufacturer had recalled about 2.24 lakh vehicles across the nation in September 2015 pertaining to the same issue of faulty airbag inflator.
Approximately 57,676 Honda vehicles have been affected by this recall. Out of the three cars to be recalled the maximum number of cars recalled include the Honda City. About 49,572 Honda City’s manufactured during January 2012 to June 2013 have been recalled along with 7,504 units of the Jazz and 600 units of the Honda Civic. Starting February 20th, 2016, Honda will start replacing the airbags on the defective cars. The company’s executives would directly call up the customers in case of any issues. So as to check whether one`s vehicle is a part of the recall or not, customers can enter the Vehicle Identification Number on the company’s website and check if their car belongs to affected lot of cars.
Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL) is conducting this exercise as a precautionary step due to the faulty airbags supplied by Takata Corporation.
