Honda CBR 650F sportsbike India launch in 2015
The much anticipated Honda CBR 650F is all geared up to enter the Indian motorcycle market in 2015. The Japanese automaker’s Indian two-wheeler wing, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has officially stated that the company’s new high performance sports bike the CBR 650F will be manufactured in the country next year onwards.
This production commencement of the Honda CBR 650F sports bike will draw a lot of interest towards the skills and capabilities of the Japanese manufacturer. Though Honda has revealed the planned commencement of the CBR 650F in India, the company has not yet revealed at which of its manufacturing facilities the CBR 650F will produced. HMSI has three manufacturing plants located in Rajasthan, Haryana, and Karnataka, while the company is also in the process of setting up another new upcoming factory at Vithalpur, Ahmedabad.
The Honda CBR 650F sportsbike will be based on the ‘Make in India’ policy from the Japanese manufacturer and will be produced here in India. The local production of this new Honda power bike not only make the company save a considerable amount of production costs, but also let it price the new CBR 650F much more affordably for the Indian bike lovers. There have been no details about the expected price of the new Honda CBR 650F as yet, while the exact price will be revealed by the company only at the official launch of the motorcycle.
The CBR 650R was first showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo which was held in February. The CBR 650F is a performance oriented bike which will be powered by a powerful 649cc four cylinder engine that is empowered with double overhead camshaft technology. The bike’s powertrain has the capability of generating a max power of 87 bhp at 11,000 rpm and 63 Nm of peak torque at 8,000 rpm. This engine will be coupled to a 6 speed transmission gearbox sending the generated power to the rear wheels of the bike through a chain drive system. Once the sports bike gets officially launched in the Indian two wheeler market, the Honda CBR 650F will compete against the other established sports bikes such as the Kawasaki Ninja 650 and the Hyosung GT650R.
The Japanese automaker is currently the third largest car maker in India is also the second largest two wheeler maker in the country. Honda wants to become the top two wheeler maker of India in the near future and is working hard on improving its product range in the country. Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has recently announced about the set up of its new plant in Ahmedabad. This new two wheeler plant of Honda will employ around 3,000 people in its first year of commercial production. The plant will have a production capacity of 1.2 million units per annum. The company is thus, all set to expand its product range as well as production capacity in India.
