Honda Cars India Ltd registers 40% growth ; Brio`s sales dwindle
Honda has been on a roll in India ever since the Amaze was launched. The compact sedan from the Honda stable has been clocking close to 5,000 units a month. This was followed by the launch of the 4th generation Honda city which is the current king of the C segment sedans. The recently launched Honda Mobilio has also clocked close to 10,000 bookings as per reports. Honda has now become the number 3 car manufacturer in India. It has gone ahead of Mahindra and if we look at the domestic sales figures for the month of July 2014 Honda sold 15,709 vehicles and Mahindra managed to sell 14,708 cars only.
The company has registered a 40% growth by selling 56,427 vehicles during the period April – July 2014 compared to 40,350 sold during the same period last year. This strong growth has been due to new launches like the Amaze, 4th generation Honda City and the Mobilio.

From the above sales figures what was glaringly apparent was the shockingly low number of units the brio sold. The Brio has been a slow seller for Honda and with the Amaze and City leading the pack it was obvious for the Brio to be left behind. The Brio competes with the Grand i10 which has been flying off the shelves since the time it was launched.
Honda is also planning to launch the new Jazz in early 2015. All said and done we have to complement Honda`s clever strategy and new launches which have put it back in the reckoning.
