Honda to bring next generation Accord to India in 2015
Honda was always known for its petrol cars and was the market leader in the mid-segment category. But since the shift towards diesel powered vehicles was witnessed in the Indian market, Honda found its sales declining due to the lack of a diesel motor. Honda knew that in order to bring back the sales volumes they needed to launch diesel powered cars in the Indian market. The outcome of this decision was the launch of the Amaze and the fourth generation Honda city diesel variants which set the ball rolling for Honda once again.
The company had discontinued the eighth generation Accord due to lack of demand in the market two years ago. As per a report from Autocarindia Honda is planning to re-launch the model in India after a gap of two years. The ninth generation Honda Accord was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo earlier this year. Honda is planning to bring back the Accord to India as it thinks this is the right time. Both its previous launches the Amaze and the City have done extremely well and Honda will be launching the Mobilo MPV and Jazz hatchback later this year.
The new Accord will be more stylish from a design perspective and will be smaller than the older version. This does not mean that the Accord will not be spacious on the inside. It may look smaller on the outside but Honda`s clever packaging “Man maximum machine minimum” philosophy will ensure that there is no compromise on interior space. The new Accord is expected to get a new power steering and the overall structural integrity of the body will be improved.
The new Honda City will be powered by a 2.4 litre petrol motor which will belt out 177bhp. We will have to wait and see how Honda prices the Accord when it is launched in 2015. Stay tuned to MotorCruze for the latest news in the Indian Automobile industry.
