Honda BR-V compact SUV spied for the first time, completely revealed
Honda’s offering in the compact SUV space comes in the form of the BR-V. The company had only revealed sketches of the upcoming vehicle, but the BR-V has now been spied for the first time and that too in a production ready avatar. The compact SUV is due to be unveiled in Indonesia at the ongoing Gaikindo Indonesian International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2015. Spy shots of the Honda BR-V have come from the same location revealing what the compact SUV will look like.
BR-V which stands for Bold Runabout Vehicle which has been designed in Thailand solely for the Asian market and is based on the Brio platform which also underpins the Amaze and Mobilio. It`s design is based on the company’s ‘XCITING H DESIGN!!!’ philosophy and the vehicle looks very appealing. The front end features a bold twin-slat chrome grille that integrates neatly with the headlamps (projector setup) which in turn have been inspired from the CR-V. The front bumper looks a tad sporty, featuring round foglamps and a silver skid plate towards the bottom end.
The side profile has creases similar to that of the Mobilio. The big wheel arches are surrounded by black cladding. Roof rails and multi-spoke alloy wheels lend the SUV a premium feel. Sadly, the rear profile could not be snapped, but a roof mounted spoiler is visible in one of the spy shots.
Overall, the Honda BR-V looks good and is expected to be a hit once launched in India by 2016, if not by the end of this year. It will most likely be powered by the same set of 1.5-litre petrol and diesel motors that power the City as well. Honda might give the SUV Electronic Stability Control (ESC) on the top-end variant. Given the dimensions and looks of the BR-V, it should go head on with the recently launched Hyundai Creta in India and it’s expected to be priced from Rs. 9 lakhs (ex-showroom).
