Honda Activa is the best selling two-wheeler in India in March 2015

Honda Activa 3G

With the general notion we all have in our minds that scooters don’t sell as much as bikes, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) has proved it wrong  once again as the company announced that its most famous scooter, Activa has recorded 2,00,000 plus sales becoming the best-selling two-wheeler in the country during the month of March 2015. With this, Activa`s domestic sales figure stood at 2, 07,270 units in March, leaving Hero’s number one seller, Splendor behind. The Honda Activa is the sole scooter in the top 10 best selling two-wheeler list, at the second position for the fiscal year 2014-15.

Presently, the company sells three scooters under the Activa Badge, namely—the 3G, i and 125. The third-gen model of the Activa was launched in February this year. It comes powered by the same 109 cc, single-cylinder engine churning out 8 BHP and 8.83 Nm of torque. This engine comes mated to a CVT gearbox system and the bike is equipped with the trail link set-up at the front and spring setup at the rear to perform the suspension duties. Braking duties are handled by 130 mm drum brakes along the front and rear. Equipped by Honda`s Eco Technology, the Activa 3G delivers fuel efficiency of around 60km/l (as per internal tests).

With competition levels getting more intense in the two-wheeler segment, Honda with its Activa being the best selling model needs to be alert with Hero Moto Corp trying to constantly beat its competitor. It will be a wait and watch scenario for Honda to see how Hero MotoCorp will play its cards to win the never-ending battle for No.1 position.

The success story for Honda’s Activa doesn’t end here. Recently, the company announced that it again achieved a new sales record on the auspicious day of Akshaya Trithiya by selling around 41,000 units of its best-selling two-wheeler Activa on a single day. No doubt, it is a top selling model and we are sure the Honda Activa will continue to break records in the future.
