Hero’s Unisex ‘Duet’ scooter to launch in India this year
With the growing popularity of the scooter segment, all two-wheeler manufacturers in the country are seeking to launch new and better equipped scooters to please the Indian audience. Honda is currently the scooter segment leader in India, all thanks to the Activa. However, many consider the Activa to be an over-hyped product and are looking towards other brands.
Hero is one manufacturer which offers a range of scooters that can appeal to different categories of buyers. The company’s reliable and unmatched after sales experience is another factor that works in its favour. Hero is lining up a slew of products by the end of this year to address the scooter market and most of these scooters were showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo.
However, one scooter from the Indian two-wheeler manufacturer which could not make it to the exhibition was the Duet. The Duet will have a full-metal body and will be launching in the market towards the end of this year. This product will be aimed towards both the genders.
Hero launched the Maestro Edge scooter at the National Dealers Convention which was held in Rome last week. At the convention, Economic Times reportedly conversed with many of Hero’s dealers who attended the event to reveal that the 110cc unisex Duet will be directly pitted against the Honda Activa when launched in the market.
Hero however refused to comment on the supposed speculation and said that they have already discussed their plans to bring new scooters and motorcycles this year. The company will only reveal specific details regarding the same when the product is nearing its launch date.
Honda has solely been relying on the Activa to keep its hold in the Indian two-wheeler market. Hero MotoCorp on the other hand has prepared an aggressive onslaught of scooter products to consolidate its number one spot in the market that is if it can tackle the growing popularity of the Activa scooter in India.
