Ford Mustang Spotted In India At ARAI, Launch This Festive Season
Details regarding the Indian launch of the Ford Mustang have been doing the rounds across many websites for quite some time now. However, it seems that things are going in the right direction for the muscle car’s launch as the sixth-generation Mustang was spotted at ARAI in Pune. The previous generation model was only produced as a left-hand drive, but this time around Ford is producing a right-hand drive version of the iconic sports car as well which will cater to markets like India.
The Ford Mustang variant pictured here is powered by a massive 5.0-litre, naturally aspirated V8 engine that churns out 420 BHP of power and 528 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The model pictured has the automatic transmission which comes with paddle shifters to add to the sporty drive. The new Mustang is decently equipped and comes with a rear parking camera, eight airbags, independent front and rear suspensions among many other features. Other engines powering the vehicle include a 3.7-litre V6 and a 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine. Which models will find their way onto our shores still remains to be a mystery?
The Ford Mustang costs around Rs. 26-30 lakhs in the USA and it will be imported to our country via the CBU route, thus it will be applicable to 170 percent of taxes and duties. Therefore, the car is expected to retail in India somewhere in the region of Rs. 65-70 lakhs (ex-showroom), placing it right in the Mercedes CLA45 AMG territory. The American muscle car does not really have any competitors in the India and its famous name will find many customers rushing to Ford showrooms for sure. Expected to do well in the market, the Ford Mustang will be a one-off offering in India, because there simply isn’t anything similar to it as of now.
