SPIED: Ford Mustang Arrives in India, Spotted at company’s yard
If you clicked on this article after reading our heading, chances are you know what a Ford Mustang is. And if you know about the Mustang, it indeed is good news for you. After years of dilemma, Ford Motors has finally decided to launch its iconic muscle car, the Ford Mustang, in India. In-line with these developments, a recent spy shot leaked on the popular Indian forum TeamBHP shows the first batch of Mustangs (3 cars to be precise) that have been parked at what looks like the American manufacturer’s Gujarat plant. The Mustang in India is also the first ever Mustang built with a right hand drive architecture.
Zauba too verifies this speculation by displaying four imports of the Mustang, which have been unloaded in Mumbai. The listing also depicts the Ford Mustang Specs in India. Ford has not surprised us in this regard, as the Mustang in India will be available in the GT Coupe trim, which will be powered by a 5.0-litre Ti-VCT V8 engine, that is tuned to exhale 535 hp of power, while the peak torque is rated at 542 Nm. Though the global-spec Mustang GT Coupe gets a 6-speed manual option as well, the Indian-spec will only be available with a 6-Speed SelectShift automatic transmission.
To bring things in perspective, India will be getting the European spec Mustang GT Coupe and not the American one. So it will be missing the aggressive hood vents, tri-bar DRLs, sleeker ORVMs, and red taillights with sequential turn indicators.
Though further details will be revealed only after the official Ford Mustang launch in India that is scheduled in the second quarter of 2016, prices are expected to be south of the 50 lakh mark.
