It is no hidden fact that Ford EcoSport is suffering the brunt from the potent competition it is being offered by the recently launched Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. As a result, in order to boost sales of its bread and butter product, Ford India has launched a special edition version of its highly popular compact SUV, by the name of the Ford EcoSport Black Edition, with prices starting from Rs 8.58 lacs (ex-showroom Delhi).

In comparison to the stock EcoSport that was currently on sale in India, the black edition gives an all-black look. This means that the compact SUV’s front grille has now been coated in black chrome, while the alloy wheels, ORVM covers, roof rails, and roof crossbars too are black in color. Additionally, the headlamps have been moulded in black housings, and the fog lamps too get black chrome bezel.

Inside the cabin, the all-black theme of the regular EcoSport is carried forward in the Black Edition as well, though the EcoSport Black Edition is loaded with several fancy features. This includes signature light guide, automatic headlamps, rain sensing automatic wipers, LED daytime running lamps, electro-chromic mirror, push button start, 16-inch alloys, and Ford SYNC with AppLink.

But there aren’t any changes under the hood, as the EcoSport Black Edition continues to be powered by either a 1.5-litre Ti-VCT petrol, a 1.5-litre TDCi diesel, or the mighty 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol.

The Black Edition will be offered in just three trims: Trend+, Titanium and Titanium +, with the base Trend+ variant priced at 8.58 lacs and the top-of-the-line Titanium+ trim priced at 9.93 lacs (ex-showroom Delhi).
