First generation Toyota Innova production ends
Toyota has been the leader of the MPV segment in India since the past few decades. However, recently the production of this best selling vehicle i.e. the 1st generation Toyota Innova came to an end. The last few units of the car were recently rolled out from Toyota’s Bidadi Plant in Karnataka.
The first generation Toyota Innova came as a replacement to the already popular Qualis in 2005, however with its amazing performance and all-round abilities soon the MPV became a huge hit across the country. The powerful drivetrain and extremely rugged chassis with good interiors helped the Innova to become a segment leader. In spite of several alternatives available in the market for customers to choose from, the Toyota Innova topped the charts with its all round capabilities and superb performance.
The Innova was given a grand farewell at the Toyota plant when it rolled out the few last units of this vehicle. However the Japanese automaker is ready with the 2nd generation of the Innova known as the Innova Crysta. Unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016, this newer version of the vehicle is all-set to grab the attention of MPV lovers. Carrying the same reputation as of the 1st Gen Innova the new model now gets even better and more premium.
The Innova Crysta is now loaded with new features on the interior as well as on the exteriors. It gets ambient lighting, projector headlamps, automatic climate control and many more as a part of the list of new features. The Crysta is also expected to get a 2.4-litre more powerful diesel engine along with an option of a new 2.0-litre petrol engine, keeping in mind the ban imposed in New Delhi on vehicles over 2000cc.
In addition, the transmission unit also gets a heads up with a 6-speed manual transmission or an automatic transmission option. With the addition of all these new features the upcoming Innova Crysta is bound to get a price increase. But due to the excellent reputation created by its predecessor this would not hamper the sales of this new generation Toyota Innova in the country; in fact it would further aggrandize it.
