Fiat Punto Evo to be launched by end of August 2014 in India
Fiat is gearing up to launch the updated Punto by the end of August 2014 in India. It gets a new name “EVO” just like the version in the international markets. Though Fiat has been in India for a while now it still hasn’t met with the kind of success its products deserve. Fiat has very good products but due to poor after sales support the brand took a beating in India. Fiat has been doing its bit to revive sales by opening new dealerships and working towards improving customer satisfaction, but it might take a while before we see a positive trend. Let`s see if the new Punto Evo has the required spunk to set Fiat on the road to success in India.
Exteriors: The new Punto Evo has an entirely new grille which is more rounded and there is a single chrome bar which runs across the center. The new headlamps have a striking new sweptback design and the fog lamps get chrome surrounds. The rear bumper has been given some cosmetic treatment, while the taillights are new. The Punto Evo`s side profile looks similar to the outgoing model. The new Punto Evo will also get a new set of sporty alloys.
Interiors: The interiors of the Punto Evo have undergone a major change. The dashboard is all new like the one on the new Linea. The steering is similar to the one on the linea and has steering mounted controls on both sides. The speedometer dials look sporty and cool. The Punto Evo will also get a rear AC vent. Centre console, AC vents and dials in the instrument panel get silver inserts. Boot space and rear legroom would remain the same as on the outgoing model.
Engine options: The Punto Evo will be offered in both petrol and diesel variants. Out of the two the diesel motor would be the more popular one and will be available in two states of tune – 75bhp and 90bhp. The 90bhp motor is the one which has more grunt and will appeal to motoring enthusiasts. Fiat might also plonk the 1.4 T-Jet petrol motor under the hood of the Punto Evo at a later stage. Fiat has also started teasing the Avventura crossover on its official site which is also expected to be launched in 2014.
