Fiat Punto Abarth officially unveiled in India
At the launch of the Abarth 595 Competizione which is the first Abarth performance car in India, Fiat officially unveiled the second upcoming product from the same brand, namely, the Abarth Punto at the Buddh International Circuit. The most probable best seller from the performance brand of Fiat, the Abarth Punto is expected to launch in India during the festive season this year.
Fiat has kept it clean when it comes to differentiating a standard Punto Evo with the Abarth model. The front grille of the performance version has got a contrasting paint scheme which looks good. A scorpion has been drawn on the hood with contrasting colours as well. The side profile by far looks the best, featuring wicked Abarth alloy wheels and side decals. All Fiat logos have been replaced by Abarth ones and the hatch looks very cool. The company could have added a body kit to make it more special looking though.
The interiors are very similar as compared to the Fiat Punto Evo, save for an Abarth logo on the steering wheel, seats with contrasting red and yellow stitching and fancy looking steel pedals. The Fiat Punto Abarth carries the same black colour theme forward which looks nice as its adds to the sporty notion of the car. The hot hatch will come powered by a 1.4-litre T-Jet engine that churns out 145 BHP of power with an unknown amount of torque (expected to be around 20 kgm). Fiat has made the ride sporty as well, by stiffening up the suspension and lowering the car by 20 mm. The rear brakes have been fitted with discs instead of drums and the hot hatch rides on 195/55 R16 Apollo tyres.
The Italian car maker is looking to price the Abarth Punto under Rs. 10 lakhs which is impressive considering the amount of power offered. Fiat is mainly launching the Abarth range of products in India to enhance their brand name in the country and if pricing such as this continues, they surely are on the right path.
