Fiat Punto Abarth and Avventura Abarth models spied testing in India
We had recently reported that Fiat India is planning to launch the Abarth performance brand in India. Both the Punto Abarth and the Avventura Abarth have now been spotted testing by a member of Team-BHP. The cars are expected to be launched in India by the end of 2015.
The first Abarth branded car to be launched by Fiat India would be the 595 Competizione. This will be followed by the Abarth versions of the Punto Evo and the Avvetura crossover.
Powering both these cars would be a 1.4 litre T-jet turbocharged petrol mill banging out 135bhp of power. As seen in the spyshots the T-Jet badging can be seen on the Abarth Punto`s bootlid. On the sides red coloured graphics are clearly visible on the lower portion of the car, which gives the Punto Abarth a sporty look along with those chunky 16 inch alloy wheels.
On the design front the Fiat Punto Abath and Avventura will look similar to the normal variants. To differentiate the cars from the regular models Fiat will spruce up the interiors with Abarth branded door sills, sporty aluminium pedals and Abarth branding on the seat covers.
Prices for the Abarth Punto Evo and Abarth Avventura are expected to hover below the 10 lakh mark as the cars will be locally manufactured in India at the Italian carmaker`s Ranjangaon plant. However, the Abarth 595 Competizione will be quite heavy on the pocket as it will be brought into the country through the CBU route.
