Fiat Chrysler Automobiles India brings forth a very powerful version of Linea sedan- the 125 S to the Indian market. Tagged at Rs 7.82 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the sedan has been positioned above the company’s current offering in the domestic market- Linea T-jet and Multijet. Recent reports however suggest that the Linea T-Jet which was priced at Rs 8.37 lakh for the base variant has been discontinued. Fiat showcased Linea 125 S for the very first time as concept at the 2016 Auto Expo, present alongside was the Urban Cross and Punto Pure.

Fiat is known to fabricate good looking cars and with added horsepower to the Linea range the company stands tall on its brand promise of ‘Crafted for Car Lovers’. If you happen to remember, the Linea range was updated in the year 2014, it was even rebadged as Classic and was placed on a segment below. The Fiat Linea Classic is equipped with a Multijet diesel engine that churns out 75 PS of power and comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The Punto Avventura and Evo diesel range has been upgraded, both the variants now features 1.3-L 93 PS Multijet engine. The diesel unit is now branded as PowerTech. It’s surprising that Fiat India does not have automatic transmission option in its products list, the only exception being Abarth 595 Competizione.

Coming back to the Fiat Linea 125 S, it will be seen with the tried and tested 1.4-L turbo petrol unit borrowed from the T-jet but has been tuned to deliver 125 PS of power output and 210 Nm of peak torque. The transmission option available is a 5-speed gearbox. The sedan is expected to sprint from 0-100 kmph in less than 9 seconds and has a top speed of 190 kmph. Please note that the company has not yet claimed any performance figures. The Fiat Linea 125 S as of now will be available in just one trim. The sedan just like other variants offers a ground clearance of 190 mm and is roomy with a boot space of 500-litre.

Highlighting the features, Linea 125 S gets new 5-inches touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, rear sun blind, ambient lighting, rear view camera, rain sensing wipers, auto headlamps and auto power down windows on all four sides. On the safety front the sedan will be featuring cruise control, dual airbags, ABS, EBD and rear disc brakes. Please note that Fiat has opted out the black alloy wheels. Also, just like the regular Linea, the 125 S will be brushed in five colour options. Fiat India looks forward to enhance its presence in the domestic market and is geared up to introduce a fleet of cars towards the end of this year under the Jeep brand.
