Features and specifications of the Mahindra TUV3OO
In what can rightly be termed as one of the most eagerly awaited products from an Indian car manufacturer this year, the Mahindra TUV3OO is all set to give its main rival, the Ford EcoSport a good fight in the sub-4-metre SUV segment. The TUV3OO has a lot going in its favour and the vehicle is expected to do well in the market as well. But will this really be the case? Let’s find out.
Many relate the front grille to that of the Jeep brand thanks to the vertical chrome boxes. The front bumper gets a square-like design much like the front bumper itself. However, fog lights and alloy wheels come only with the T8 variant. The top T8 variant also gets a moulded spare wheel casing as against the vinyl material used on the other variants.
Powered by a Bharat Stage 4 compliant 1.5-litre mHawk80 diesel engine, the Mahindra TUV3OO churns out 84 BHP of power at 3750 RPM and 230 Nm of torque between 1500 to 2250 RPM. With a good turning radius of 5.35 metres, the compact SUV drives power to only two wheels through a 5-speed manual or AMT unit.
On the inside, the interior features impressive plastic quality that can comfortably be termed as better than the new Scorpio. The Mahindra TUV3OO has a tin-pod instrument cluster that is surrounded by chrome rings and other silver accents in the top T8 trims. An important aspect that works in the new Mahindra’s favour is the fact that it’s a seven-seater.
One of the best things about the new vehicle is the fact that Mahindra has given safety a big priority. Dual airbags and ABS with EBD is optional right from the base model. The T6 and T8 trims come with an anti-theft warning system, while other safety bits include side intrusion beams, seat belt reminder, collapsible steering column, auto door lock and a digital immobilizer.
On the feature front, the TUV3OO’s T8 trim gets a 2-din non-colour infotainment system with Bluetooth/AUX/USB connectivity, Intellipark reverse assist, static bending headlights and the Scorpio’s Micro-Hybrid Technology. All the other variants get an ECO mode that helps in deriving more fuel efficiency.
