Facelifted Hyundai Verna spotted uncamouflaged
Hyundai Motor is busy preparing for the launch of the new Verna facelift to salvage the premium sedan’s sales in the Indian car market. The new refreshed Verna sedan has already gone on sale in the Russian market which goes by the name of Hyundai Solaris. However, the South Korean car major is yet to launch the Verna facelift in India which has been the higher C segment leader till last year. The refreshed new Verna is going to be Hyundai’s effort in getting back the car’s lost glory and to boost sales. The Verna facelift has been getting spied testing on the Indian roads for some time. And now, the Verna facelift has been spotted without any camouflages for the first time.
The spied test prototype model of the new Hyundai Verna that was caught while testing was a 1.6 EX model trim. The yet to launch Hyundai Verna facelift model comes with refreshed styling with added oomph factor and enhanced drive dynamics. The Verna facelift comes with refreshed new design for the front fascia along with a newly designed grill with chrome twin slats, bigger and more sharply designed head lights that come with new projector lamps, larger and more stylish fog lamps, new LED Daytime Running Lights and revised front bumper. The rear design of the sedan gets a comparatively milder refresh with redesigned bumper along with integrated reflectors and contrasting black under lip, and refreshed tail lamps with new LED lamps. The sedan’s already fluidic form gets even more eye-soothing with the incorporation of newly designed alloy wheels and this is the only update that the sedan’s side profile receives.
On the inside the car retains the ongoing design with only few very subtle updates. The cabin’s overall design and trims are carried over from the current Verna model. Nevertheless, the South Korean car maker has endowed some nice small updates on the car’s interiors along with the incorporation of a better infotainment system along with a 7 inch touch-screen display on the car’s centre console.
Under the hood, the powertrains and mechanical tidbits will majorly remain the same. However, it is said that Hyundai will be tweaking the car to offer better drive dynamics. While the current engine choices will remain the same as now, Hyundai is expected to offer a new 6 speed automatic transmission on the Verna facelift by replacing the current 4 speed automatic gearbox. This 6 speed automatic gearbox does the duty on the Hyundai Elantra sedan as well.
The 2015 Hyundai Verna facelift sedan is expected to be a better sales performer than that of the current model. The Verna lost its C-segment ruling position to the Honda City, and now the recently launched Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is also a major competitor, as it has even surpassed the sales of the City.
