Exclusive: Suzuki Baleno photos revealed for the first time
What can be termed as the Suzuki’s next major international product, official pictures of the Suzuki Baleno hatchback have just been made public. Based on the iK-2 concept that was showcased at the Geneva Motor Show that was held in March, production version of the Baleno carries the same design characteristics as the concept car.
Due to make its international debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this month, Suzuki has released a few pictures of the upcoming hatchback. The pictures only reveal what the front and side profile will look like. Talking about the design, the front end is more or less a copy of the concept, save for a squared off headlight design, a tweaked front bumper with a smaller air dam, changed fog lamp enclosures and a chrome slat on the front grille.
Unfortunately, the rear end has not been revealed through the pictures. However, the side profile also carries the same silhouette as the concept, except for new alloy wheels and a changed door handle design. Overall, the Baleno looks very good, carrying a neat yet elegant design language with a love it or hate it philosophy.
The vehicle will be driven by the new 1.0-litre turbocharged Boosterjet engine which will offer an impressive fuel economy. Along with this, the Japanese car maker might also offer the 1.2-litre K-Series petrol and the 1.3-litre Fiat sourced MultiJet diesel mill. Adding to the fuel efficiency bit, Maruti will give the Baleno the SHVS hybrid technology as well, which made its debut in the country with the Ciaz sedan.
The Suzuki Baleno will be launched in the international market next year and will also make its way to India at the same time, but with a different name. It will be slotted above the very successful Swift and will give the Hyundai Elite i20 and the recently launched hit, Honda Jazz tough competition in the premium hatchback segment.
