Ducati Scrambler bookings started in India; Launch to happen in May
Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati has started bookings for its forthcoming bike, the Scrambler for INR 2 lakhs. The bike is expected to launch in India in May 2015. Prices for the Scrambler are expected to be in the range of Rs 6.5 lakh – 7.5 lakh(ex-showroom) and the bike would retail from the company`s dealerships in Delhi, Gurgaon and Mumbai.
As per sources, the Scrambler will be manufactured at Ducati`s plant in Thailand and will be shipped to India from this unit. Powering the Scrambler is an 803cc motor that bangs out 75 PS of power and 67.7 Nm of torque coupled to a six-speed gearbox. Braking duties are performed by 330mm disc up front and 245mm disc at the rear with 2-channel ABS (anti-lock braking system), which is a must for Indian road conditions. The Scrambler will come equipped with Pirelli tyres.
The Italian bike features a twin-spare steel trellis frame that helps in reducing its weight. Suspension duties are carried out by inverted telescopic kayaba forks up front and mono-shock at the rear.
The Ducati Scrambler`s styling is unique and contemporary, it is a blend of tradition and modernity with an emphasis on making motorcycling a fun experience. A wide handlebar, floating seat, circular headlight with LED outline and small single sided rear mudguard are some of its features.
The Scrambler`s main rival is the Triumph Bonneville which also retails at a similar price point. This is Ducati`s second innings in the Indian market through its own subsidiary (Ducati India Private Limited). The company is presently working hard on expanding its operations in the country.
