Adding on to the current list of sport and superbikes retailed in India, Ducati has just unveiled its latest offering, 959 Panigale in the country at the 2016 India Bike Week (IBW) that was held in Goa. The bike will be launched in our country come July 2016 and will be priced at Rs. 14.04 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The 959 Panigale made its debut towards the end of last year and will be brought to India via the CBU route from Thailand, where it is being manufactured.
Playing successor to the 899 Panigale, the new model is powered by a 955cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC 90-degree, V-twin engine that churns out a healthy 158 HP at 10,750 RPM and 107.4 Nm of torque at 9000 RPM. This engine has been worked upon to meet Euro 4 emission norms while also improving performance, efficiency and engine noise. Equipped with a slipper clutch, power is sent to the rear wheel by a 6-speed Ducati Quick Shift gearbox.
However, changes to the 959 Panigale is not just limited in the mechanical domain. It sports larger air intakes and a wider body thereby making it look much sportier as compared to its predecessor. Also new are the twin stainless steel mufflers that weigh 7 kg more. Other technologies featured on the bike includes the likes of Ride by Wire, Engine Braking Control, Ducati Traction Control and ABS.
All in all, the Italian marquee has worked on improving the chassis, styling and motor of the 899 to come up with the new 959 Panigale. Though it is regarded as a midsize machine, the 959 Panigale has all the goodies to give enthusiasts an experience of a lifetime. For more updates on the same news, stay tuned to MotorCruze.
