Datsun GO NXT launched in India at Rs. 4.09 lakhs
The Datsun budget brand was introduced in the country by parent company Nissan to gain a decent market share in the very prosperous entry level segments. However, that was not the case and Datsun’s first product, the GO hatchback did not start off too well in India. After the hatchback was crash tested by Global NCAP, its sales went down even further as it failed the test scoring 0/5 stars with the body disintegrating upon impact.
In order to get more sales of the hatch, Datsun has worked on the body and just launched a new variant of the GO called the GO NXT. The new variant has been given a price tag of Rs. 4.09 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). Based on the ‘T’ variant, the Datsun GO NXT gets additional features such as a rear parcel tray, remote car locking, reverse parking sensors along with piano back inserts on the dashboard, meter console and around the gear stick. The exterior on the other hand gets black moldings on the side and a chrome finished exhaust, protecting the body from scratches and lending a premium appeal respectively.
All the feature additions on the new variant are worth Rs. 20,000/-, but the company is offering them at a nominal price hike of Rs. 5000/-. The Datsun GO NXT is a limited edition model and only 1000 units of the same will be available. Mechanically, the GO-NXT hatch continues to draw power from the same 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that is found on the standard variants as well. The engine outputs 68 PS of power at 5000 RPM, 104 Nm of torque at 4000 RPM and comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The GO-NXT returns an ARAI certified fuel efficiency figure of 20.6 km/l.
Nissan will be hoping that the Datsun GO NXT will help in garnering more sales thanks to all the added features that come as segment firsts.
