Chevrolet Trailblazer Vs Toyota Fortuner Vs Mitsubishi Pajero Sport

The Chevrolet Captiva was not really able to get going in the premium SUV segment in India and turned out to be a failure. But the American company is all set to launch its latest offering in the same segment – the Trailblazer. Expected to make its debut in this year’s festive season, Chevrolet will be hoping that the Trailblazer will not end up being a dud like the Captiva and help the company gain a good sales figures instead. The Chevrolet Trailblazer will go up against the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport in the segment. So let’s take a look at how these Sports Utility Vehicles fare against each other.

Chevrolet Trailblazer

The Trailblazer has the longest wheelbase and highest ground clearance of all the three

On the dimension front, the upcoming Chevrolet Trailblazer has massive dimensions. It has a length of 4878 mm, 1902 mm of width and is 1847 mm tall. This makes it the longest and widest of the lot as the Fortuner measures 4705 mm in length, 1840 mm in width and 1850 mm in height while the Pajero Sport is 4695 mm long, 1815 mm wide and 1840 mm tall respectively. The Trailblazer has the longest wheelbase and highest ground clearance of all three as well. Toyota Fortuner

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport

The Chevrolet Trailblazer will come powered by a 2776cc four-cylinder engine that puts out 197 BHP, 50.99kgm of torque and comes paired to a six-speed automatic gearbox. The Fortuner comes with an option of two engines – 2494cc mill that churns out 142 BHP and 34.98kgm of torque while the larger 2982cc engine puts out 168.7 BHP and 36.71 kgm on the automatic trim and 34.98kgm of torque on the manual variant respectively. The Pajero Sport derives 175.6 BHP from a 2477cc four-cylinder motor with the 2WD automatic variant putting out 35.7kgm of torque and the 4WD manual developing 40.8kgm respectively.

The Chevrolet Trailblazer has many segment first characteristics including a six-speed automatic gearbox and is worthy of giving the current crop of rivals a run for their money. The Chevy has a more powerful engine as well and comes out as a very capable product. The company just has to price the Trailblazer SUV well as compared to its rivals so as to expect it to sell in decent numbers.
