Chevrolet will be bringing the much awaited Trailblazer premium SUV to our country before the end of this year. The company showcased the vehicle back in 2012 and the upcoming SUV’s testing phase began in our country not so long ago. The Trailblazer is expected to be launched in the country in October 2015 and it seems like the American car major will only bring the vehicle in a single variant.

The single variant will be powered by a 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel mill that will churn out 197 BHP of power and a massive 500 Nm of torque. The only engine will come paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission with power being driven to only two wheels and not four. In comparison, its main competitor’s inlcuding the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Ford Endeavour come with a choice of 2WD, 4WD, manual and automatic options.

On the feature front, the sports utility vehicle will get a touchscreen infotainment system with CD/AUX/USB/Bluetooth connectivity, leather seats, cruise control and more. The 7-seater Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV which comes in a 2+2+3 seating configuration will feature a list of safety features including the likes of Traction Control (TC), ABS with EBD, Engine Drag Control (EDC), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), two airbags, Hill Descent Control (HDC), Panic Brake Assist (PBA), Hydraulic Brake Assist (HBA), Engine Drag Control (EDC) and Dynamic Rear Brake Proportioning.

The Chevrolet Trailblazer has much more street presence than the Fortuner and Pajero Sport across all fronts – length, width, height and wheelbase. The massive SUV has the capability to do very well in the market, as against the poor performing Captiva. Chevrolet is offering the SUV for those who seldom go off-roading and stick to the tarmac instead. The Trailblazer is expected to be priced around Rs. 26 lakhs (ex-showroom) when launched in India.
