Chevrolet Trailblazer launched in India at Rs. 26.4 lakhs
The much awaited replacement for the Captiva has finally been launched in India. The Chevrolet Trailblazer has been given a decent price tag of Rs. 26.4 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The product launch comes in the wake of the company now investing a lot of money for its Indian operations. Trailblazer is a very good product in the segment and has the capability to give its rivals a tough time.
Firstly, the Chevrolet Trailblazer comes in only one variant that is powered by a 2.8-litre Duramax turbocharged diesel engine that churns out 200 BHP of power and 500 Nm of torque. The power and torque figures are the best in its segment. Only available in a two-wheel drive variant, power is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission. The company has no plans of launching a four-wheel drive variant anytime in the near future.
The latest Chevrolet is a massive vehicle. Boasting of segment leading dimensions, it carries forward the American car maker’s styling forward. The tough looking SUV runs on 18-inch alloys to match the vehicle’s stance. Rear end is probably the best view of the SUV with good looking LED taillights.
Interiors are not that great, but better than many of its rivals with a full leather upholstery. Finished in a beige and black style, Chevrolet has introduced the MyLink 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system in India for the first time. It gets Bluetooth, AUX, USB and Smartphone connectivity. With ample amount of room inside the cabin, the third row is probably the roomiest in the premium SUV segment. Other features include multi-function steering wheel, 6-way power adjustable driver’s seat, automatic climate control, reverse parking camera with sensors, electrically adjustable ORVMs and more.
The company has done a lot on the safety front giving the Trailblazer features such as ABS with EBD, Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist, Panic Brake Assist, Cornering Brake Control, Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control System and dual front airbags.
Imported in to the country from Thailand via the CBU route, Chevrolet has priced the vehicle very aggressively. It is a very capable premium SUV with the ability to give the Toyota Fortuner, SsangYong Rexton, Hyundai Santa Fe, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Honda CR-V and the upcoming Ford Endeavour some serious competition.
