The next performance products from the BMW stable – X5M and X6M have finally been launched in the country. The X5M has been priced at Rs. 1.55 crores (ex-showroom), while the X6M has been given a price tag of Rs. 1.6 crores (ex-showroom). The two SUVs have been launched in India with the sole purpose of being an attractive proposition to those who want a big yet powerful vehicle.

The German luxury car maker has done a good job in differentiating the new performance SUVs against their standard counterparts. Firstly, the front features a new bumper with larger air intakes in addition to gills and M branding on the side. Same has been carried forward to the rear end which sees two twin-chrome exhausts that have been placed on a sporty looking diffuser. Both the SUVs ride on stylish 20-inch alloy wheels, but these can be upgraded to larger 21-inch alloys as well. Changes inside the cabin includes new sport seats with integrated headrests. The whole cabin is finished in black leather to add to the overall sporty appeal of the two vehicles.

The main aspect of the X5M and X6M is what’s under the hood. Powering the two is a 4.4-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine that generates a superb 575 BHP of power and 750 Nm of peak torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission. This one hell of an engine that can take the newly launched performance SUVs up to a top speed of 250 km/hr, which obviously is electronically limited. Reaching the 100 km/h mark from standstill takes just 4.2 seconds.

Features wise, the X5M and X6M comes with 6 airbags, front and rear parking assist, adaptive LED headlights, Harman Kardon music system, heads-up display, ABS with Brake Assist, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) with M Dynamic Mode, side impact protection, Hill Descent Control and much more.
