BMW 7 Series ActiveHybrid launched in India
German luxury car maker BMW has launched its flagship 7 series ActiveHybrid sedan in India. The car retails at a starting price of Rs 1.35 crore ex-showroom, Delhi. This is BMW`s first hybrid sedan to be launched in India and the car will be brought to Indian via the CBU route.
This model has been brought to India to give the brand a stronger presence in India and will be the launch pad for future models like the i8 and i3 hybrid cars from the German giant. Powering the 7-series ActiveHybrid is a 3.0 litre, 6 cylinder petrol motor that pumps out a staggering 320PS of power and 450 Nm of twisting force. The engine is powered by two turbochargers and works in combination with an electric motor which puts out 55bhp and 210 Nm of torque. The combined power output of the petrol and electric motor is a massive 359PS and 500 Nm. For a sedan of this size the 7-series ActiveHybrid is quite agile with a 0-100 km/h dash in just 5.7 seconds. The engine is mated to an 8-speed ZF transmission. BMW claims the 7 series ActiveHybrid is 14 percent more fuel efficient than the 740Li.
