BMW 3-Series Petrol relaunched in India at Rs. 36.90 lacs
BMW India have re-introduced the 3-Series Petrol model in the country, with prices starting from INR 36.90 lacs. Called the 2016 BMW 320i, this new 3 Series variant is the second model in the entry-level sedan series, in addition to the popular 320d.
The star of this package is the new BMW 320i engine, which is a 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbocharged unit, developing 184 hp of power at 5000rpm and a peak torque of 270 Nm at 1350 to 4600 rpm. Being a petrol, peak outputs are achieved at higher rpms as compared to the diesel powered 3-Series. This not only aids highway cruising abilities of the BMW sedan, but also enhances the engine’s rev-happy character.
It is interesting to note here that while the Diesel BMW 3 Series is offered in four variants (Prestige, Sport Line, Luxury Line and M Sport), the petrol BMW entry level sedan can be opted in just two variants (Prestige and Luxury Line). The petrol 3 Series BMW can be opted in three enticing color options – Black Sapphire, Alpine White, Jatoba and Imperial Blue Brilliant Effect.
In addition to various feature list differences, the two petrol 3 Series variants also feature two different transmission options. While the 320i Prestige variant is tuned to an 8-Speed Steptronic automatic transmission, the higher 320i Luxury line is equipped with an 8-Speed Steptronic sport gearbox. Moreover, both these variants get the Comfort, ECOPRO and Sport driving modes to allow the driver to tailor the car’s characteristics as per his/her requirements, though the Luxury Line trim gets a Sports+ variant as well. This powering configuration ensures that the BMW 3-Series Petrol`s acceleration time is clocked at just 7.3 seconds for sprinting from standstill to 100 km/h.
