BMW 3-Series facelift spied on a Crane in India
BMW has been having a very dry run in India for quite some time now. The company has lost significant ground to rivals Mercedes and Audi and really needs to revamp its product line-up and product awareness if at all it wants to regain lost ground in the ever growing luxury car market of our country.
The Bavarian based automaker had revealed the updated 3-Series a couple of months back and the entry-level luxury sedan will be heading to our shores very soon. According to a few spy pictures, the updated 3-Series seems to have commenced testing in India as the vehicle was spotted on board a crane with a camouflaged front and rear fascia.
The new BMW 3-Series gets a few changes to make it look wider than the outgoing model. The sedan features a completely redesigned front bumper with a much bigger air dam and the top variants will come with optional LED headlamps. The rear end on the other hand also gets a restyled bumper along with LED taillights.
On the mechanical front, the updated 3-Series is powered by an all-new 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine that bangs out 134 BHP. The four-cylinder engine options are offered in two states of tune to cater to different customers. The diesel engine also gets updated power figures. However, only the current diesel mill is expected to power the Indian model, which is the 2.0-litre diesel unit.
We sincerely hope that BMW equips the new 3-Series very well so that it can compete with the sexy looking Mercedes C-Class and the Audi A4 more capably when launched in the Indian luxury car market.
