Iconic Italian motorcycle major Benelli in association with the Indian company DSK is all ready to venture into the very potential Indian two-wheeler market. DSK announced the introduction of Benelli to India last month, and now the Italian bike maker is all set to unveil its Indian product portfolio next month. Established in 1911, Benelli is one of the oldest motorcycle makers in the world. Benelli will be introducing its product range of 5 models along with their prices in India in December, 2014. While Benelli will unveil its Indian portfolio in December, the motorcycles will be offered for sale only from January, 2015. Benelli which is owned by the Chinese company Qianjiang Group, has partnered with the Indian DSK Motowheels to retail its products in India.

Pune based DSK Motowheels also retails motorcycles from the house of its South Korean partner Hyosung in India. It has already been reported earlier that DSK was supposed to launch two bike models from Hyosung, namely the GD250N and RT250D street-fighters in India, which the company has postponed to mid 2015 to maintain ample amount of time gap between the launch of the Benelli bikes and the new Hyosung models. DSK is currently fully concentrating on the Indian launch of Benelli. DSK will be retailing as well as be responsible for the after sales and service of the Italian bikes.

Coming back to the product range of Benelli for India, initially a total of five Benelli bike models will be launched in India across various segments. DSK is currently busy setting up the first phase of the dealership outlets in the country that will include 8 outlets across India. These dealerships will be up and operational by January next year, upon which the introduced Benelli bikes will actually go for sale in India. Benelli plans to have at least 20 exclusive dealership outlets across India, and these should be operational by the end of 2015 and this should enhance the availability of the Benelli bikes. Where the much awaited Benelli’s Indian product range is concerned, the Benelli bikes will be competing in the market against products from KTM, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Honda across the various segments.

All the 5 bike models for India will be revealed next month, but for now it has been confirmed that the first Benelli bike to launch in India will be the BN 302 street-fighter sports bike powered by a twin-cylinder engine. The Italian motorcycle maker will offer the BN 600 GT and the BN 600I mid-weight sports bikes in the higher segment. Benelli’s flagship model range for India will be comprising of the premium TNT 899 and the TNT 1130R superbikes that will come with outstanding power and classic fiery Italian designing.

Benelli will be initially bringing in its entire product range to India through the CKD route, while in order to make the models more affordable and successful in India the company is also contemplating local manufacturing.
