Bajaj reveals the new Pulsar 200 SS
Earlier bikes or scooters were considered to be just convenient and an economical way of commuting, but now two wheelers are more of a fashion statement that exude style and power depending on the various models. The Indian two wheeler market is surging ahead with lots of new bikes being launched, and in this race Indian two wheeler maker Bajaj is definitely not behind.
We all know how eagerly Pulsar fans are waiting for the 200 SS. The new Bajaj Pulsar 200 SS is speculated to be launched in the market soon and the bike has been snapped by spy shutterbugs while the machine was busy testing on Indian roads many times. Back in May, this year the Bajaj Pulsar 200 SS was also spotted at a dealership outlet that led to heavy speculations that the bike is going to launch very soon in the Indian two wheeler market. However, it’s the end of October and the bike has still not arrived at the showrooms, neither has the company revealed anything regarding the bike’s market launch as yet. Nevertheless, now Bajaj Auto has unveiled the Pulsar 200 SS at a private event. It is good to mention at this point that this is by no way the market launch of the new Pulsar 200 SS, but only the introduction of the bike which could have been the company’s briefing to its dealers.
The new Bajaj Pulsar 200 SS has been given a full fairing and the model looks very similar to its elder sibling the Pulsar 400 SS where design is concerned. For those who aren`t aware, the Bajaj Pulsar 400 SS was unveiled by the company at the 2014 Auto Expo which was held in the month of February this year. The Pulsar 400 SS and the Pulsar 200 NS both share the same platform and also some of the features to cut down production costs and to keep the price of the products low. The Pulsar 200 NS has many alluring features such as dual projector head lamps along with the incorporation of LED daytime running lights; it features an underbelly exhaust and bright LED tail lamps.
The new Bajaj 200 SS is most probably going to be powered by the same motor as the 200 NS that is a potent 199.5 cc, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, single cylinder engine which has the capability to churn out 23.52 PS of max power at 9500 rpm and a peak torque of 18.3 Nm at 8000 rpm and is coupled to a 6 speed transmission gearbox. The 200 SS could be endowed with a fuel injection system replacing the NS’ carburettor. Braking power in the new Bajaj Pulsar 200 SS will be provided by single disc brakes for both the front and rear wheels. It might also get an ABS unit, while the bike will get telescopic forks at front and monoshock suspension at the rear.
