Bajaj Auto`s latest upcoming product spied, to be given a new brand name
Not so long ago, a somewhat different looking motorcycle from the Bajaj stable was caught while undergoing testing. Judging from its visual appeal, many thought that this is just some sort of an experiment that Bajaj is carrying out mainly because the bike had a lot of its parts taken from the Discover, Pulsar and Avenger range.
However, at a recent press conference Bajaj officials discussed about launching a new brand that will sit above the Discover and below the Pulsar range respectively. This new brand will most likely be launched with the spied motorcycle. Currently referred to as ‘X’, the new brand name will be unveiled before the end of this month itself, which is pretty quick.
Coming to the design itself, the front cowl is a direct rip-off from the Pulsar 150. But, this unit could be different in the production spec model. The fuel tank design is chunky and muscular, sitting in front of a single Avenger like seat that will make the upcoming bike a comfortable one. Comfort factor will further be accentuated with flatter handlebars than those seen on the Discovers. The rear view mirrors and tail section design have been picked up from the Avenger range as well. The bike is seen riding on black alloys with the rear suspension getting gas shockers that gives the rear profile a somewhat retro look. Finally, the exhaust unit is new as well featuring an upswept profile.
We feel that the bike will be powered by the company’s tried and tested 150cc engine that will be tweaked around a bit to offer somewhere around 14 BHP of power and 13 Nm of torque. The engine should come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Being a Bajaj, the upcoming product is expected to carry a competitive price tag. With its few unique attributes, the motorcycle could be a volume puller if Bajaj is able to pull off with a good overall design.
