Audi launches A3 sedan in India at Rs 22.95 lakh
German luxury carmaker Audi has launched the A3 compact sedan in India at a mouth watering price of Rs 22.95 lakh for the base diesel variant in Delhi. The Audi A3 is the first luxury compact sedan available in India.
The A3 is available in four variants namely – “Attraction, Premium, Premium Plus and Technology” for the diesel model and the petrol model is available only in the Premium Plus trim. Engine options for the new member of the Audi family include a 1.8 litre TFSI turbo petrol engine that pumps out 177.5bhp mated to a 7-speed gearbox and a 2.0 litre diesel engine which produces 141 bhp which works in conjunction with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Audi has ensured that the A3 is loaded with all the bells and whistles required for a luxury car. The top of the line A3 compact sedan comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, Bi-xenon head lamps, day time running lights, a retractable display for the multimedia infotainment system, touch pad with handwriting recognition capabilities, auto air-conditioning, front seats with electronic adjustment, rear view camera, seven air bags and an optional panoramic sunroof. With the A3 compact luxury sedan Audi has introduced a new naming convention. The A3 TDI`s car badging reads Audi A3 35 TDI. Audi says that this number indicates the car’s performance and a bigger number means the car is faster to reach 100 km/h. The petrol variant of the A3 is more powerful and hence it gets the 40TFSI badging.
The new A3 compact luxury sedan from Audi will directly compete with the likes of the Mercedes A-class and BMW 1-series hatchbacks. Audi has priced the A3 very aggressively and we expect the competition to get tougher in the entry level luxury segment space.
